Consultations

One my most fulfilling career paths was one I didn’t expect to enjoy. I became certified in Family Mediation because it looked like an interesting course and would be very helpful in my career as a family advocate. I didn’t plan on actually mediating family squabbles, (I’m not a big fan of confrontation) but thought the knowledge would be beneficial. Right before our certification, however, we were required to do a mock mediation in front of an experienced family mediator who was critiquing us. I was dreading it. But as I was in that room mediating a fake family’s fake time sharing schedule of fake children, something very real happened. A click, a lightbulb, whatever you want to call it, I knew I was going to love doing this! And I have. Though my first real family was a bit more intense than the fake one, I genuinely enjoyed helping people see beyond the conflict and the bitterness and the frustrations to a resolution that made both people walk away feeling relieved and satisfied. Though life has taken me in other directions, I still mediate/consult every chance I get. If you are interested in consulting with me on an issue that has come up in your family, please email me. I realize that the economy has hurt families tremendously and I strive to work with people’s budgets on an individual basis. Sometimes just talking a situation through with someone who can offer a different perspective and conflict resolution skills can make all the difference. Consultation can take place via email, telephone, or Skype and you can reach me at christimadrid {at} gmail {dot!} com.
