Birthdays are a big deal around our house. Let me rephrase that — Daniela’s birthdays are a big deal around our house. We usually have a theme picked out 3 or 4 months in advance and spend hours upon hours planning out every detail. We revel in the party planning and bringing an idea to life is exceptionally rewarding. The very best of ours have been locale themed — we took Paris by storm and Morocco was stunning. We go all out. Budget? Artists don’t need budgets. (or so Daniela claims) ;)
This year has been a bit more… difficult. She struggled to find inspiration. The closer we inched to her birthday, the more anxious I became. We scoured Pinterest, but to no avail. Her birthday was June 24th. Here we are, July 24th, and she has finally decided on a theme! Time is relative where birthdays are concerned — if inspiration hits a month later, so be it. Who am I to say that birthday parties must take place in a two week window? I’m not about to rain on that creative parade. So here we are, planning a Garden Party for the weekend before school starts. And it’s going to be the bees knees. My girl has style like none before her and she knows exactly what she wants. Once an idea sparks, this timid, soft spoken child of mine morphs into a spectacular tour de force of artistic moxie. I eat it up.
In a stroke of brilliance, we decided to create our own invitations using photos and our favorite photography and design iPhone apps. Good lord, this is going to be fun! For your viewing pleasure, Act I of the birthday photo shoot. Tomorrow is Act II and will include some seriously fetching balloons. Oh yeah.
Yes, I carried that (heavier than it looks) chair into the street.
And to the tree on the other side of the street. Solid wood, people.
Stay tuned! This will rival even Paris.
